The maiden launch of the Dzidula Pink Foundation in Accra took a deeply personal turn as the husband of the founder, Madam Fafa Gozo, urged Ghanaians to stand together in the fight against all forms of cancer.
Speaking at the event, Abdul Razak Tahiru described the moment as far bigger than a gathering of supporters.
“This moment is not just about hope, strength and promise to stand against not just breast cancer but all forms of cancer,” he said.
He noted that many people have little understanding of what survivors actually endure.
“She has gone through so much. Most people think they know, but they do not,” he told the audience, pointing to his wife’s journey and the weight carried behind the scenes.
Mr. Tahiru added that the family had chosen to make their story public because they believed it would inspire strength in others facing similar battles.
“What you have heard is just a synopsis of it,” he said, urging the public to show compassion and support for people living with cancer.
He anchored his message on faith, noting that challenges sometimes come with lessons.
“God says he creates everything for a reason,” he said, adding that even though cancer feels cruel, “together we are stronger than any cancer.”
The Dzidula Pink Foundation, founded by Madam Fafa Gozo, focuses on breast cancer awareness, early detection, patient support and community education.
Friday’s launch was held under the theme “Beyond the Diagnosis: A Future of Restoration, Care and Courage.”
The event brought together survivors, medical professionals, advocates and supporters from across the country to discuss how communities can better support individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
The Foundation says it hopes to expand outreach and support networks across Ghana as it begins its work.
