“This too shall pass” — Breast cancer survivor Fafa Gozo launches Dzidula Pink Foundation

Breast cancer survivor Fafa Gozo has opened up about her painful but inspiring journey as she launched the Dzidula Pink Foundation at the Mensvic Grand Hotel in East Legon on Friday.

Sharing her own battle, she spoke with raw honesty about the moments that nearly broke her.

“Cancer take the fabric of our being. I feared. Cancer brought pain. I sat in my room and asked a lot of questions. Depression set in,” she said.

Fafa recounted how looking at her own photograph reminded her that all was not lost. There was still hope. Reality, she said, hit hard – but accepting it was the first step toward healing.

Support from loved ones kept her anchored.

“Family and friends assists. My caretaker, my helping journey more than a personal battle,” she noted, adding that true love pushed her to embrace the truth of her diagnosis.

She recalled her husband’s reassuring words during her lowest moments:
“My husband said this too shall pass.”

Describing the emotional and physical toll of treatment, she reflected, “Cancer, yes, treatment yes, what next? I embrassed the pain. It takes a lot of grace. One person cannot do. Together we can build of future of restoration and care.”

The Dzidula Pink Foundation, which she founded, seeks to support women navigating similar battles. The organisation focuses on breast cancer awareness, early detection, patient support and community education.

The maiden launch brought together survivors, health professionals, youth groups, supporters and invited media houses. The Foundation hopes its work will help strengthen awareness and widen support for patients and families affected by breast cancer across Ghana.

The event, themed “Beyond the Diagnosis: A Future of Restoration, Care and Courage,” signalled the start of the Foundation’s national push to encourage early testing, improve community education and offer meaningful support to women going through treatment.
